Build Your Urgent Care Career with Xpress Wellness

Xpress Wellness is seeking newly graduated Family Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants who are ready to begin their careers in a structured and supportive clinical environment.

Our robust new-provider training program helps recent graduates transition from the classroom into practice while developing the judgment, efficiency, and procedural skills needed to succeed in urgent care.

Providers work a full-time schedule of only 7 twelve-hour shifts during each 14-day period, allowing for meaningful time away from work while building valuable experience caring for patients across the lifespan.

A Training Program Designed for New Providers

Starting in urgent care can feel like a significant transition. Our training program is designed to give new graduates the clinical foundation and practical support needed to become capable, confident, and increasingly independent providers.

Training and support may include:

  • Structured onboarding and clinical orientation
  • Guided transition into independent patient care
  • Support from experienced physicians and advanced practice providers
  • Development of procedural and diagnostic skills
  • Assistance with clinical decision-making and appropriate patient disposition
  • Training in urgent care workflows, documentation, and EMR use
  • Exposure to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
  • Ongoing feedback from clinical and operational leadership

What You Will Do

As an urgent care provider, you will evaluate and treat patients with a broad range of illnesses, injuries, and episodic healthcare needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing patient histories and physical examinations
  • Diagnosing and treating acute illnesses and injuries
  • Caring for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
  • Ordering and interpreting laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging
  • Developing appropriate treatment and follow-up plans
  • Prescribing medications within the provider’s scope of practice
  • Identifying patients who require emergency or specialty care
  • Completing timely and accurate medical documentation
  • Providing clear education to patients and families
  • Working collaboratively with clinic staff and clinical leadership

Providers will also perform or develop proficiency in urgent care procedures such as:

  • Laceration repair
  • Splinting and basic orthopedic care
  • Incision and drainage
  • Foreign-body removal
  • Minor wound and injury management

Candidate Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Family Nurse Practitioner certification for NP applicants
  • National certification appropriate to the provider’s discipline
  • Eligibility for an Oklahoma or Kansas professional license
  • DEA registration or eligibility to obtain registration
  • Current BLS certification
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to treating patients of all ages
  • Interest in urgent care, family medicine, or emergency medicine
  • Willingness to develop procedural skills and accept clinical feedback

Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Previous urgent care experience is not required.

DOT medical examiner certification is preferred. Candidates who are not currently certified should be willing to complete the certification process after joining the organization.
