The Role

The Asset Integrity Engineer position is a technical subject matter expert in asset integrity and maintenance, supporting the safe and reliable operation of Gibson's operating assets. The Asset Integrity Engineer is committed to developing and maintaining asset integrity process by collaborating with operations, maintenance and engineering creating a climate in which people work as a team to do their best and deliver results.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the development of the Tank Integrity Program (TIP), Pipeline Integrity Management Program and support the in-house Chief Inspector in enhancing the Pressure Equipment Integrity Management (PEIM) and Marine Integrity Programs.
  • Develop and update equipment inspection plans to ensure adherence to industry codes and standards (e.g. API 510, API 571, ASME, CSA Z662 as well as ABSA and TSASK Regulations and Guidelines).
  • Maintain a long-term strategy using risk-based methodologies to establish effective reliability and integrity of fixed assets within all Gibson facilities.
  • Supports the overall performance, maintenance, change, and stakeholder relations of the Asset Integrity and Maintenance function.
  • Ensures and participates in the development and implementation of Risk-Based Asset Integrity program, and creates KPIs for Asset Integrity and Maintenance through areas of reliability and availability.
  • Consults and collaborate with the Chief Inspector for Pressure Equipment, Piping systems, Relief devices and Overpressure Protection systems to ensure compliance with jurisdictional requirements (ABSA and TSASK).
  • Collaborates with pipeline operations groups & Pipeline integrity engineer to manage the pipeline integrity program in compliance with CSA Z662 by establishing risk-based methods and cost-effective criteria.
  • Maintains a strong safety culture within the Asset Integrity and Maintenance team.
  • Promotes Gibson Energy and contributes to industry best practice through representation in industry groups and forums.
  • Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring to the Role

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with experience in asset integrity.
  • Current APEGA or APEGS membership as a practicing member (P.Eng.) in good standing is essential.ย 
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in asset integrity, operations, maintenance, and management within the oil and gas sector.
  • Demonstrates strong integrity and operational knowledge in static equipment including tanks, pressure equipment andย pipeline integrity.
  • Passionate for physics, engineering, problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborative with an entrepreneurial approach for solving problems
  • Thorough knowledge of risk assessments and good understanding for failure analysis.
  • Proven competency with asset integrity related fundamentals including:
  • API 510 pressure vessel inspector
    • API 571 damage mechanisms
    • NDE inspections and limitations of techniques
    • Failure Analyses, Root Cause Analyses
    • Repair and Alteration procedures
    • Material Selection and Weld procedures
    • ABSA & TSASK Regulations and requirements
    • CSA B51 Code
    • ASME Codes (Section VIII, Section II Part D, Section I, Section IX, PCC-2)
    • API 653 standard
    • CSA-Z662 pipelines
    • Knowledge in API 579/Fitness-For-Service assessments is considered an asset.
  • Ability to understand process safety requirements regarding asset integrity.
  • Experience and proficient with MS Office Systems, Maximo, or similar enterprise systems.
  • Demonstrates competency with oral and written communication.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with functional and operating areas.
  • Ability to anticipate and seize opportunities to implement programs and processes that add value.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with financial constraints and risk-based priorities.
  • Exhibits knowledge of current governing codes, standards and corporate policies.
