Must hold a current Michigan Teaching Certificate with a 6-12 Integrated Science Endorsement.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

 
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Current and valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with 6-12 Integrated Science Endorsement.
  • Proven ability to manage a diverse classroom effectively, fostering a respectful and productive learning environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution and positive discipline techniques.
  • Proficient in educational technology tools such as Google Classroom, SMART Boards, and educational apps.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.

Key Responsibilities:

 
  • Develop and implement dynamic, standards-aligned lesson plans utilizing diverse teaching techniques (e.g., project-based learning, digital resources, field trips) to engage K-8 students.
  • Cultivate a positive, disciplined, and inclusive classroom environment through effective behavior management and individualized student support.
  • Monitor student progress through assignments, tests, and standardized assessments, providing constructive feedback and tailored academic assistance.
  • Maintain open and consistent communication with parents regarding student academic performance, attendance, and social development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to enhance curriculum, share best practices, and contribute to a cohesive educational team.
  • Ensure a safe, secure, and healthy educational environment by establishing and enforcing classroom procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, faculty meetings, and professional organizations to continuously update job knowledge and teaching methodologies.
 

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

 

Ability to perform physical duties typical of an elementary school teacher, including lifting up to 25 pounds, bending, stooping, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, and maintaining classroom order. Manual dexterity for computer and telephone use is required.
