Position Summary:

  • This position is responsible for providing unbiased and accurate education, outreach, and insurance enrollment assistance to clients of 4C Health's programs. This position works to promote preventative care and assist clients in connecting to other healthcare providers, such as primary and behavioral health care. The primary goal of this position is to assist individuals in gaining, maintaining, and accessing health coverage to obtain appropriate care. This position primarily works independently and operates under minimal supervision but must solicit professional assistance in the area of responsibility from outside sources, as necessary. All Benefits Navigator's, degreed and non-degreed positions, receive general guidance from the Medical Director and will receive clinical supervision as outlined by regulatory entities and Center policy. A person in this position must exercise tact, judgment and confidentiality when interacting with the public, clients, and families, as well as fellow associates of the Center. Work is very broad in scope and requires a high level of professionalism and application of complex technical practices.

Essential Duties:

  • Keep abreast of Indiana Health Plans and federal marketplace plans.
  • Must follow guidelines for care navigator client engagement as defined by the department.
  • Assist clients in identifying healthcare, primary, and mental health needs. Appropriately links referrals with primary care providers. Only links outside of 4C Health when appropriate.
  • Connect clients with Indiana Health Coverage Programs and the federal marketplace for insurance coverage and eligibility requirements. This includes assisting clients with completing applications for enrollment into an Indiana Health Coverage Program (IHCP) and/or federal marketplace plan, monitoring their eligibility status, completing insurance or financial transfers once approved and completing necessary documentation and tracking of each person enrolled.
  • Provide information to clients regarding the full range of qualifying health plans and insurance affordability programs which they are eligible. Assist clients in understanding their financial obligations and by providing coverage information to appropriate agencies once they are connected with an insurance plan that meets their needs. Works collaboratively with the 4CHealth billing department to assist is setting up payment arrangement plans with clients.
  • Advocate for the best plan options for clients while allowing them to choose their own plans. Screens intake and or self-pay patients that do not have active insurance for presumptive eligibility.
  • Communicating with other services departments to ensure clients follow through with insurance requirements.
  • Clearly document client information and interactions that are relevant and accurate to the status of their enrollment. This must be completed within 24 hours of the application.
  • Maintain knowledge of coverage to appropriately obtain benefits that accommodate the client.
  • Independently pursue and maintain continuing education, certifications and trainings pertaining to Managed Care, community-based mental health care, evidenced based practices, or other continuing education seminars pertinent to the needs of clients and coverage as deemed necessary by senior management.
  • Assess client for abuse and/or neglect.

Starting and growing base wage opportunities up to $26.00/hour!!

  • Four-day (32 hour) work week
  • Eligible for $150/month ( $1,800 annually ) in student loan repayment, available at hire
  • Earn $750 for every person you refer who is hired and remains employed for 6 months and receive an additional $500 every year as long as you both remain employed
  • Bilingual wage premiums available for individuals fluent in Spanish or Burmese

Qualifications

Requirements:

Background Checks:

  • 4C Health is a Drug-Free Workplace employer. Candidates must be willing to submit to a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Candidates must be willing to submit to comprehensive background checks, including but not limited to criminal and child protective services checks.

Education and Experience:

  • At minimum a High School graduate or GED.
  • A degree or further education in social services, psychology or related mental health field preferred but not required.
  • At least six (6) college credit hours in abnormal psychology or other related psychology classes preferred.
  • Experience in case management preferred.
  • If not possessing a degree or degree is in an area other-than mental health or social services must have at least two (2) years of full-time experience in mental health, or other related field.
  • Must maintain reliable transportation, must have a valid Indiana Driver's License with meet Center policy requirements for driver's license points and must maintain vehicle insurance requirements per Center policy.
  • Must obtain and maintain Indiana Applied Organization Residential Navigator License.
