Description: Hawaii Disability Rights Center is the state's designated protection and advocacy system for individuals with disabilities. The organization resolves rights violations through legal advocacy, outreach, education, and both individual and systemic support. Services-including casework, self-advocacy assistance, training, and public-policy advocacy-are all aimed at improving access and equity. In doing so, the organization empowers individuals to live with dignity and independence, while working toward a more inclusive Hawaii.

  • Act as the first point of contact by promptly answering calls and greeting visitors.
  • Provide intake forms and a welcoming atmosphere for all walk-in guests.
  • Assist with administrative tasks including copying, scanning, filing, and data entry.
  • Support the center's mission by performing additional duties as assigned.

This position may involve light physical activity in both indoor and outdoor settings. Successful candidates should be comfortable alternating between standing and sitting, as well as navigating stairs and sloped walkways. They should also be comfortable lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds. Strong motor skills and clear, effective communication are essential.

  • This is a part-time, non-exempt employment position. Successful candidates may work up to 19 hours per week; however, employment is on an as-needed basis. Flexibility and a willingness to adapt to a varied schedule are essential.
