Insurtech Sales information

What is insurtech sales?

Insurtech Sales refers to the process of selling insurance products and services that are enhanced or enabled by technology innovations. Professionals in this field work with digital platforms, data analytics, and other tech-driven tools to connect customers with insurance solutions more efficiently. Their role often involves educating clients about new insurance technologies, streamlining the purchasing process, and fostering relationships with both traditional insurers and tech startups. Insurtech salespeople need a strong understanding of both insurance fundamentals and the latest technological trends in the industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an insurtech sales professional?

To thrive as an Insurtech Sales professional, you need a strong understanding of insurance products, industry trends, and sales techniques, often supported by a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field. Familiarity with CRM platforms, digital sales tools, and insurtech software solutions is essential for managing leads and demonstrating product value. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and adaptability are crucial soft skills that help foster trust and respond to evolving client needs. These competencies enable sales professionals to effectively connect innovative technology with customer requirements, driving growth in a competitive market.

What are some common challenges faced in an insurtech sales role, and how can they be addressed?

A common challenge in Insurtech Sales is navigating the fast-paced evolution of insurance technology and effectively communicating its value to clients who may be unfamiliar with digital solutions. Sales professionals often need to stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging competitors. Building trust with traditional insurance clients and demonstrating how technology can improve efficiency or customer experience is essential. Collaboration with product, marketing, and technical teams is key to providing tailored solutions and ensuring client needs are met.

Job description

About Integrated Specialty Coverages
Integrated Specialty Coverages, LLC (ISC) is a growth stage technology and data-driven commercial MGA and insurance wholesaler leading innovation in the market.
Backed by one of the leading private equity firms, Onex Partners, and led by a forward-thinking management team, ISC is combining the worlds of insurance and technology to create an Insurtech powerhouse. As a leading online distributor of insurance products for a range of industries and "Main Street USA", we are looking for the right people to help us in our mission of achieving exponential growth. We strive to be the number one place to go for brokers and agents to source insurance. To accomplish this, we're building a digitally focused team that deeply understands the intersection between user experience, data, and AI/ML to optimize the way we engage with our customers and partners.
Job Summary
The New Business Agent is a production-focused sales role responsible for generating new business opportunities and delivering exceptional customer service. This position is primarily focused on quoting, selling, and binding General Liability insurance while also supporting other product lines, including Surety Bonds and Workers' Compensation, as business needs dictate. Success in this role begins with developing a strong understanding of CCIS's products, systems, underwriting guidelines, and sales processes. The New Business Agent will manage inbound leads, assess customer needs, provide accurate coverage recommendations, and guide clients through the quoting and binding process. In addition to driving new business production, this role contributes to the ongoing improvement of customer experience, internal processes, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is sales-driven, customer-focused, and eager to continuously develop their insurance knowledge while creating value for both our clients and the organization. This position offers the opportunity to build a rewarding career through professional growth, strong earning potential, and meaningful contributions to the continued success of CCIS.
What Makes This Role Different? We believe great salespeople should spend their time selling. That's why CCIS invests significantly in marketing and lead generation to provide our agents with a steady pipeline of inbound opportunities. While networking and relationship building are always encouraged, this role is designed to maximize your time helping customers and closing business, not chasing cold leads.
This is a hybrid role with 1 day WFH but will start onsite Monday-Friday during a probationary training period. The remaining days will be onsite in our Sacramento office, 9am-6pm PST.
Additionally, this role offers a competitive base with performance-based commission for producing agents.
  • Base pay: $52,000 to $62,000 per year, plus overtime as applicable
  • Performance-based commission tied to production - strong performers earn significantly above base
  • Total compensation at plan: $76,000 to $98,000+
  • Bonus is uncapped
