Job Summary
The mission of the underwriting function is to foster sound underwriting and business decisions, develop effective relationships and contribute toward the growth and development of the underwriting department to write and retain long term profitable business.
Underwrite group ancillary lines and evaluate high levels of risk and complexity for customers with primarily 5,000+ lives in the National Accounts ancillary lines market.
Manage anin-forcebook of business that includes moderate to complex cases, serving as a primary contact and internal consultant to management and external contacts.
Provide expert guidance to others in the underwriting family as a key resource to the division; mentor 1:1, classroom train, and identify training gaps and trainee needs in collaboration with leadership within the Mid-Market underwriting teams, field office sales and service partners.
Project work as needed.
Skills and Background You'll Need
Education:
Bachelor's degree in businessor related field is preferred, additional experience in lieu of education.
Experience:
At least 5 years of Life and Disability underwriting experience working in the mid-market (1,000+) space.
At least 2 years of experience as an underwriter in national accounts (5,000+) group insurance is required to be considered for the consultant level role.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to present strongly in pricing calls.
Ability to travel 5% of the time.

Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on a variety of factors including individual and organizational performance.
The actual compensation for this role will be based on a combination of education and experience, knowledge and skills, position budget, internal equity, and market data.
Salary Range:
$88,000.00 - $129,000.00Positions will be posted for at least 5 days from original posting date.
