Job description

Description:

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to join our IT organization in a dynamic role that requires both strategic thinking and hands-on execution. This position is critical to our continued growth and transformation, supporting initiatives that span underwriting technology, application development/integration, data management, and acquisition integration.

The ideal candidate will serve as a bridge between business and technology, demonstrating deep insurance industry knowledge while partnering closely with stakeholders to understand current-state workflows, define future-state improvements, and support adoption of new capabilities.

This position demands adaptability in a fast-paced environment, balancing immediate operational needs while contributing to our long-term strategic vision and helping the organization evolve.

Requirements:

Cultural & Collaborative Fit

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and ability to integrate seamlessly with cross-functional teams
  • Work effectively both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as a team contributor
  • Exhibit a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves mentalityโ€”no task is beneath this role
  • Balance pragmatic execution of current-state needs with forward-thinking contributions to strategic initiatives
  • Takes ownership of outcomes and follows through on commitments, including ensuring lasting change takes root
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to pivot as business needs evolve while helping others navigate uncertainty

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Process Understanding

  • Partner with underwriting leaders and operational stakeholders to deeply understand current-state business processes, pain points, and workflow constraints
  • Document and analyze underwriting processes, systems, and decision points to identify improvement opportunities
  • Translate business needs into clear, actionable artifacts such as:
  • Business requirements and functional requirements
  • User stories and acceptance criteria
  • Process maps (current state / future state)
  • Business rules and underwriting logic documentation
  • Support definition of future-state workflows that align technology enhancements with business outcomes

Underwriting Technology Enablement

  • Serve as a key business analysis resource for initiatives involving underwriting systems, integrations, data flows, and underwriting operations enablement
  • Collaborate with technology teams to ensure business requirements are fully understood and solution designs reflect underwriting needs
  • Help validate that delivered solutions meet underwriting business intent through reviews, walkthroughs, and user acceptance testing support
  • Support prioritization discussions by helping stakeholders evaluate business value, impact, and tradeoffs

Change Management & Adoption Support

  • Contribute to change management strategies for each initiative, ensuring smooth transitions from current to future state
  • Assess change readiness and business impact across affected teams, including underwriting, operations, and related functions
  • Support communication planning that helps stakeholders understand the โ€œwhat,โ€ โ€œwhy,โ€ and โ€œhowโ€ of changes
  • Help drive adoption by supporting training needs identification, process documentation, and user enablement activities
  • Act as a stabilizing presence during periods of uncertaintyโ€”helping teams stay aligned and informed

Business Partnership

  • Leverage insurance industry knowledge to work closely with business stakeholders, understanding their challenges, regulatory requirements, and operational constraints
  • Connect technical solutions to business problems by translating business needs into clear deliverables for technical teams
  • Identify how changes will impact daily workflows, business processes, and employee responsibilities within the insurance context
  • Serve as a trusted partner to business leaders by providing insight into how underwriting technology initiatives support strategic goals
  • Facilitate requirements gathering sessions and ensure business needs are accurately captured, validated, and prioritized

Communication & Influence

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levelsโ€”from C-suite executives to technical teams and front-line business users
  • Facilitate workshops and cross-functional working sessions to drive clarity, alignment, and decisions
  • Produce concise and effective documentation, status updates, and stakeholder-ready summaries
  • Listen actively to concerns and feedback, adapting approach based on stakeholder input and organizational realities
  • Manage expectations through transparent, proactive communication on scope, requirements, and impacts
