Job Description:

Our work depends on a Software Engineer SME joining our team to support USPACOM J6 mission outcomes through it modernization project support, modernization, secure integration, and operational collaboration across the Pacific.

GDIT is seeking a Software Engineer SME to support USPACOM J6 IT Modernization Project Support activities at Camp Smith, HI, helping modernize enterprise IT capabilities and strengthen mission partner interoperability across the Pacific.

How the Software Engineer SME Will Make an Impact
  • Support IT modernization projects from requirements definition through planning, integration, testing, and transition.

  • Collaborate with technical teams to mature prototypes, modernization sprints, and enterprise capability improvements.

  • Lead software engineering analysis and application modernization efforts, including secure design, integration, and DevSecOps-oriented practices.

  • Work with users and technical teams to translate mission needs into maintainable software requirements and implementation plans.

  • Collaborate with USPACOM J6 stakeholders, service components, mission partners, and GDIT team members to resolve technical challenges.

  • Prepare clear technical documentation, briefings, status inputs, and recommendations for customer and internal leadership.

What You'll Need to Succeed
  • Education: Technical training, certification(s), or equivalent experience; degree not explicitly required by the external labor category.

  • Required Experience: 15+ years of relevant experience supporting the role, mission area, or equivalent DoW/enterprise IT environment.

  • Required Technical Skills: software architecture; DevSecOps; application modernization; APIs and integration; secure development; technical leadership.

  • Security Clearance Level: Final Top Secret.

  • Required Skills and Abilities: Strong communication, analytical problem-solving, technical writing, customer engagement, and ability to coordinate across engineering, cybersecurity, operations, and mission partner teams.

  • Preferred Skills: Experience supporting USPACOM, combatant command, service component, or joint/coalition mission environments. Experience working in government site environments and coordinating with military and civilian stakeholders.

  • Location: On customer site at Camp Smith, HI.

The likely salary range for this position is $187,179 - $241,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
