At AQR, our employees share a common spirit of academic excellence, intellectual honesty and an unwavering commitment to seeking the truth. We're determined to know what makes financial markets tick - and we'll ask every question and challenge every assumption.  We recognize and respect the power of collaboration and believe transparency and openness to new ideas leads to innovation.

The Team

Our Risk, Compliance and Legal Engineering team is seeking a software engineer to help design, build, deploy, and maintain our application suite. Our teams are small, motivated, and highly productive. Collaborating closely with AQR's Risk, Compliance, and Legal business teams, as well as other engineering teams, you will become intimately familiar with AQR's investment strategies and the platforms and processes that support risk management and compliance across the firm's broader investment processes.

Your Role

You will participate in the design, development, and support of AQR's Risk, Compliance, and Legal application suite, from understanding business requirements through production support. You will work closely with business users, engineering teams, and infrastructure groups to help build and enhance systems and workflows that support critical business processes across the firm. You are expected to work collaboratively, handle multiple priorities, and contribute thoughtful solutions to business and technology challenges while continuing to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyze business requirements and support application development efforts
  • Develop and support APIs and application workflows
  • Aggregate and manage data from a variety of internal and external sources
  • Implement business logic and support system integrations
  • Develop data visualizations, dashboards, and workflow tools for business users
  • Support and enhance production applications and workflows
  • Collaborate with development teams to access and expose data through well-defined interfaces
  • Monitor application and operational processes and assist in troubleshooting issues and performance bottlenecks
  • Work with firm-approved artificial intelligence tools and evolving technologies to improve development workflows and business processes
  • Write and maintain technical documentation

What You'll Bring

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline
  • 2+ years of programming experience in Python, SQL, JavaScript and/or .NET
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • 2+ years of working with or analyzing data is a plus
  • Experience with web application development, APIs, cloud technologies, data visualization tools, or AI-assisted development tools is a plus (e.g. Angular, CSS, Tableau, AWS, RESTful services, and microservices)
  • Experience working in the financial industry is a plus

Who You Are

  • Thoughtful, collaborative, and a natural fit for a team-oriented culture
  • Hard-working and eager to learn in a fast-paced, innovative environment
  • Committed to intellectual integrity, transparency, and openness
  • Interested in building scalable and impactful technology solutions

The salary range for this role is expected to be $125,000 to $155,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is accurate for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, depending upon factors such as skills, experience, location, or other business and organizational needs. This wage range may also be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), and any other benefits to eligible employees.

Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable. The amount and availability of any bonus, commission, benefits, or any other form of compensation and benefits that are allocable to a particular employee remains in the Company's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified at the Company's sole discretion, consistent with the law.
