Job description

Senior Project Manager – Power Generation

Location: Multiple U.S. sites (see list below).

Overview

As part of HDR’s national Power Generation team, the Senior Project Manager will develop, contract, and implement natural gas and renewable energy generation projects, serving as Owner’s Engineer and/or Advisor.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain positive, proactive client relationships.
  • Achieve project schedule, quality, and profitability goals.
  • Serve as proposal champion/manager, assisting with proposal preparation, contract review, and risk evaluation.
  • Provide daily leadership to the project team and technical staff for project activity completion.
  • Communicate and coordinate within the project team and with the client to align expectations and deliverables, monitoring quality, completeness, and conformance.
  • Proactively monitor and maintain the project budget and schedule, developing recovery plans for potential shortfalls.
  • Monitor contracted scope of work and identify scope changes.
  • Provide training and mentoring to project team staff on project management and consulting issues.
  • Guide design or consulting work within the manager’s engineering expertise.
  • Routinely report project progress to the accounting and operations teams.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of degree and relevant experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of power generation project experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer.
  • PMP Certification.
  • Experience designing or managing simple cycle/combined cycle EPC projects as owner or owner’s engineer.
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects.
  • Demonstrated business development skills.
  • Strong communication, leadership, planning, and mentoring abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe, and relevant project management software.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 10 years of related experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of project management experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, and project management tools.
  • Ability to interact with varied design teams and excellent organizational, project management, and communication (written and verbal) skills.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $118,703 – $223,125 (based on experience, education, and location).
