About the role
The Surplus Lines Insurance Carrier Manager oversees SL insurance carrier reporting, underwriting guidelines, and process/system design requirements for AIG's surplus lines insurance companies in the US. This role reports to the Head of Surplus Lines Governance and leads a team to maintain business and reporting operations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee the surplus lines insurance company state filing process to ensure timely and accurate filings.

  • Oversee maintenance of Surplus Lines Underwriting Guidelines and coordinate changes with business teams.

  • Review state regulatory reporting changes, communicate changes to all business partners, and coordinate and monitor required changes across each of the underwriting systems.

  • Prepare Functional Requirement Documents for surplus lines system updates.

  • Coordinate SLFS and SLR system updates to include form changes, rate and or calculation changes, process changes and improvements regarding agency filings, insurance company filings and license maintenance.

  • Enhance the new SLFS module to properly manage the process.

  • Drive team performance standards through prompt feedback and monthly progress reports.

  • Train and coach team members to learn and understand AIG's operations and surplus lines regulatory requirements.

  • Assist in coordinating responses to state inquiries including audits.

  • Provide input into process design and system requirements to optimize business processes and strengthen controls.

  • Enforce established compliance and control requirements to meet Corporate Compliance and Internal Audit standards.

What we are looking for

  • 5+ years of insurance carrier reporting experience. Must have some previous supervisory experience

  • Experience in the Insurance industry a must, surplus lines knowledge preferable

  • Knowledge of insurance company reporting processes and filing processes

  • Self-starter with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Highly organized with the ability to work independently

  • Excellent reporting, verbal, analytical, organizational, and written skills

  • Comfortable dealing with complex problems and proposing solutions

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to collaborate with people at all levels

  • Ability to perform work with a high-level of attention to detail and accuracy

  • Flexible and accepting of working in dynamic changing organizations

  • Strong computer software proficiency: Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Familiar with SQL query language

  • Experience working with a team in a fast-paced setting

For positions based in NJ, the base salary range is $95,000 to $104,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
