Job description

UT Police at Houston is committed to protecting the safety of anyone who works, studies, visits or seeks treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center. UT Police serves both MD Anderson and UTHealth Houston.
UT Police at Houston offers competitive pay and excellent benefits. The starting pay for all positions is on a sliding scale commensurate with experience. UT Police offers tuition reimbursement through a cohort (up to $5,250 a year). Excellent benefits are provided to UT Police employees, including paid health insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, and the opportunity to earn up to 24 additional hours of time off (based on performance.)

The primary purpose of the Police Officer position is to enforce the law, provide service, information and aid to all citizens as circumstances require, prevent crime, suppress disturbances, investigate criminal offenses, and arrest offenders.
KEY FUNCTIONS:
* Perform law enforcement duties on the property under the control and jurisdiction of the University of Texas System.
* Preserve the peace by the use of all lawful means, interceding when authorized by law, to prevent or suppress crime.
* Execute all lawful processes. Arrest offenders with and without a warrant when authorized by law. Investigate criminal offenses to detect and arrest criminals, and recover stolen or lost property.
* Attempt to locate missing persons.
* Enforce traffic law by detecting violations, making violator contacts, placing violators in custody, or issuing citations or warnings. Investigate motor vehicle collisions.
* Prepare various written reports narrating law enforcement and police activities.
* Give credible testimony in the criminal courts of this state and the United States.
* Confers with prosecuting attorneys, preserves evidence, and maintain confidential information.
* Confers with local law enforcement, criminal justice, and emergency response agencies on matters of mutual interest.
EDUCATION:
Required: In accordance with current levels of education for commissioned police officers of the University of Texas as adopted by the Board of Regents. Successful completion of prescribed field training program.
LICENSE:
All of the following:
* Commissioned/licensed peace officer for the State of Texas within 180 days of entry into job. Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) Peace Officer License.
* Valid Texas driver's license upon hire.
OTHER:
Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
