Job description

Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) is a leading power engineering consultant firm that provides engineering, system planning and studies, technical consultation, project management, surveying, environmental planning, commissioning/testing and construction services to electric utilities, energy developers and industrials throughout the U.S. Our experience includes system voltages from 4.16 kV through 765 kV.

ECI has an opening for a substation project engineer in Augusta, ME. Responsibilities include the conceptual, preliminary, and final detailed design of new, upgraded, and expanded substations, and support through energization. Engineering responsibilities include the development and delivery of physical, electrical, civil and communication drawings, design studies, calculations, and specifications.  A Project Engineer assists the Project Manager in the planning and execution of best-in-class projects, including client and stakeholder coordination, training and mentoring of design staff, project quality assurance, and oversight of design engineers, designers, drafters, and support staff. 

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, 6+ years' project and design engineering experience, or an acceptable combination of education and experience; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organization and planning skills; ability to work in a team environment; commitment to quality and accuracy; and a willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules. A PE license is preferred. The successful applicant must have an advanced knowledge of power engineering principals, understand applicable codes, standards and design tools, possess basic project management execution skills, and have the ability to oversee and direct design personnel on a project team. Experience in utility or merchant power industry a plus. The successful applicant may be subject to client-mandated drug and background checking. Occasional travel/driving is required; therefore, the successful applicant will be subject to ECI's auto insurance carrier requirements. Applicants must not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B visa status) now or in the future.

Compensation Range: $114,000 to $136,000 Annually
