Insurance Defense Attorney - Hartford, CT - Hybrid

A well-established and highly respected civil defense litigation firm is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join its growing team in Hartford, Connecticut. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside accomplished trial attorneys with national reputations for litigation excellence while handling sophisticated and high-exposure defense matters.

The firm represents corporate and individual clients throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York in a variety of complex civil litigation matters. Attorneys benefit from a collaborative team environment, strong mentorship, meaningful client interaction, and the opportunity to work on challenging cases involving insurance defense, medical malpractice, toxic tort, product liability, and personal injury litigation.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of insurance defense matters from inception through resolution
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, responses, and legal memoranda
  • Conduct legal research and develop case strategy
  • Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and experts
  • Participate in mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences, and court appearances
  • Communicate directly with clients, insurance carriers, experts, and opposing counsel
  • Analyze medical records, investigative reports, and other case-related documentation
  • Prepare cases for trial and assist with trial strategy and presentation
  • Maintain compliance with court deadlines, litigation budgets, and reporting requirements
  • Collaborate closely with partners and senior attorneys on complex litigation matters
Requirements:
  • Active Connecticut Bar admission required
  • 1+ years of insurance defense litigation experience preferred
  • Experience handling all aspects of civil litigation, including discovery and motion practice
  • Deposition experience strongly preferred
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to independently manage files while working collaboratively with a litigation team
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and client service skills
  • Experience with medical malpractice, toxic tort, product liability, or personal injury defense is a plus
  • Location: Hartford, CT or Westport, CT
  • Schedule: Hybrid (3 days onsite)
  • Compensation: Competitive base salary + bonus potential
