Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Criminal Defense Attorney to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will advocate fiercely for clients facing criminal charges, providing expert legal counsel from initial consultation through trial and resolution. Your energetic approach and strong negotiation skills will help protect clients' rights while ensuring they receive comprehensive legal support throughout their case.

Responsibilities

  • Criminal Defense Attorney will represent clients in criminal defense cases, including arraignments, hearings, negotiations, and trials
  • Conduct thorough legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other resources to build compelling defense strategies
  • Draft legal documents such as motions, pleadings, and case summaries with precision and clarity
  • Investigate case facts by interviewing witnesses, reviewing evidence, and consulting with experts when necessary
  • Negotiate plea agreements that serve clients' best interests while maintaining ethical standards
  • Maintain organized case files and ensure compliance with all procedural requirements

Skills

  • Virginia State Bar member in good standing. Though compelling candidates who have or will sit for the Virginia Bar Exam will be considered.
  • Will be trained on criminal defense litigation and courtroom procedures
  • Excellent negotiation skills to achieve favorable outcomes for clients
  • Proficiency in legal research tools like Westlaw and LexisNexis
  • Exceptional writing skills for drafting clear and persuasive legal documents
  • Strong legal drafting abilities combined with meticulous attention to detail
