Job description

Overview

Alliance Cancer Specialists (ACS) is seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Controller to lead the financial management of a complex, six-division, physician-owned oncology practice. This role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring exceptional attention to detail, strong business judgment, and the ability to clearly articulate complex financial information to physician shareholders who approach decisions from a clinical and financial lens. This is a presentation-heavy, high-visibility role. The Controller serves as the senior on-site finance leader for the practice and a key financial partner within the U.S. Oncology Network.


Practice Scope

  • Six-division oncology practice
  • 25 physicians and 12 Advanced Practice Providers
  • 8 clinical sites
  • Physician-owned and shareholder-governed
  • Member of the U.S. Oncology / McKesson Specialty Health Network

Reporting & Team Structure

  • Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the Regional Finance Director, with a dotted-line relationship to the Executive Director.
  • The Controller directly supervises and mentors:
  • One Financial Analyst
  • One Senior Accountant

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes in accordance with GAAP - Develop and present financial statements, KPIs, and variance analyses to physicians, boards, and committees  
  • Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders
  • Lead the annual budget, forecasting, and long-range planning processes
  • Perform financial modeling, pro forma, and ad hoc analyses to support strategic initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and SOX-related requirements
  • Manage tax compliance, capital requisitions, insurance coverage, and drug inventory

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role - Healthcare or physician practice experience strongly preferred
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred - Strong GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling expertise - Exceptional presentation and communication skills - Ability to operate effectively in a complex, physician-led environment
  • Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Salary Range: $150,000 – $185,000, commensurate with experience
  • Performance-based incentive bonus opportunity
