Your Work Matters How will you make a difference?

The Lead Collection Specialist is responsible for timely follow-up and collection of behavioral health and chemical dependency claims for Inpatient and Outpatient levels of care to ensure timely receipt of payment including but not limited to third party payer receivables. The Lead will work closely with BO Manager and assist with supervising the performance and effectiveness of billing, collecting, and payment posting for the Hospital and Physicians. Under the guidance and in coordination with BO Manager and the Lead position is a point of contact between the facility, insurance companies, and third-party payers to resolve all outstanding owed balances. Candidate should be able to understand balances in AR system for collection of insurance amounts and adjusting account balance appropriately in system. Manage an assigned team of Collection Specialists and helping the team members understand and achieve performance targets and goals.ย  Under the Leadership of BO Manager, works in cooperation with Medical Records and Utilization Management department to ensure all required documents are completed and on file.

  • Ensure timely follow-up and collection of behavioral health and chemical dependency claims forย both Inpatient and Outpatient levels of care.
  • Understand balances in the Accounts Receivable system for the collection of insurance amountsย and adjust account balances appropriately.
  • Identify payor issues proactively concerning zero payment, payment variance, billing, andย denials with a high degree of accuracy and report to Management.
  • File complaints on insuranceย payors as needed according to policy and procedure.
  • Ensure claim rejections are identified, and the proper action is completed to ensure timely billing.
  • Maintain and balance various reports throughout the month, including but not limited to denials, cash, and census.
  • Monitor and assist staff with claim activities on various insurance portals and via phone to check claim status and resolve claim issues.
  • Supervise and manage Collection Specialists.

Your Experience Matters What weโ€™re looking for:

  • Education & Licensure (if applicable):ย High school graduate; college degree preferred.
  • Experience:ย A minimum of 5 years of collection and billing process experience with all major commercial and government third-party payers required.ย  A minimum of 3 years proven supervisory or management experience in a health care business office environment required. Experience with Massachusetts insurance collection and billing, computer and business software programs (Excel) preferred.
  • Additional Skill Requirements:ย Knowledge of Microsoft Office including word, excel, and outlook.ย  Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor is needed. Detail oriented and possessing strong time management skills is necessary in order to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Self-starter with high degree of drive, initiative, forward thinking, and follow through.ย May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.

Compensation:
