Job description

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

We are seeking a mission-driven and hands-on Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead a rural community hospital dedicated to delivering high-quality, accessible care. This is a unique opportunity for a leader who is passionate about making a meaningful impact in an underserved community while driving operational excellence and sustainable growth.

The CEO is responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of the hospital, while providing strategic leadership to ensure long-term viability in a rural healthcare environment. This role oversees all patient care, clinical, and support services, with a strong focus on access to care, community engagement, and financial stewardship.

As a visible and engaged leader in the community, the CEO will build strong relationships with physicians, staff, board members, and local stakeholders. You will play a key role in strengthening service lines, expanding access, and navigating the unique challenges of rural healthcare—including workforce shortages, reimbursement pressures, and evolving patient needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day hospital operations with a hands-on, collaborative leadership style
  • Champion access to high-quality, patient-centered care for the local community
  • Develop and execute strategies to ensure financial stability and long-term sustainability
  • Strengthen community relationships and serve as a trusted ambassador for the hospital
  • Recruit, develop, and retain clinical and administrative talent in a competitive rural market
  • Identify opportunities to expand services, partnerships, and care delivery models
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, legal, and accreditation standards
  • Partner with the board and leadership team to align strategy with community needs and organizational goals

Requirements
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
  • Progressive healthcare leadership experience, ideally within a rural or critical access hospital setting
  • Demonstrated success managing operations in resource-constrained environments
  • Strong financial acumen with experience improving margins and optimizing performance
  • Proven ability to engage communities and build strong stakeholder relationships

Benefits
  • Competitive executive compensation package
  • Comprehensive health insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Relocation assistance (if applicable)
  • Opportunity to make a lasting impact in a close-knit community and lead with autonomy
