Position Summary 
The Order Entry Specialist plays a key role supporting IMCD customers through accurate and timely entry of customer purchase orders.  Order Entry Specialists are responsible for the thorough review of customer orders and requirements, accurate processing and confirmation of orders, and providing a smooth hand-off of orders to the Customer Care Specialist.   

Essential Job Functions  
-Perform the initial review and accurate entry of customer purchase orders into the system, ensuring all information, such as product specifications, quantities, packaging requirements, certifications, and delivery instructions, is complete, correct, and aligned with company standards. 
-Provide professional and courteous communication when interacting with customers or internal stakeholders regarding order details or clarifications. 
-Identify discrepancies, unclear instructions, or missing information on incoming orders and proactively seek clarification from internal teams or customers as needed. 
-Develop a strong understanding of customer requirements in complex, regulated industries such as aerospace, pharmaceuticals, and specialty manufacturing. 
-Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring order issues and recommending process enhancements. 

Qualifications 
Education  
High School Diploma or equivalent required 

Experience  
One year of experience in customer service or data entry role. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities  
-Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail to prevent errors that could impact customers or downstream supply chain processes. 
-Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly convey information in a friendly, professional manner. 
-Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously 
-Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications  
-Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines 

Preferred Qualifications  
-Prior experience with Salesforce CRM or JD Edwards ERP system 
-Minimum typing speed of50 words per minute (WPM) 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements  
-Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods while performing computer-based work. 
-Ability to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment. 
-Ability to move about the office to access files, office equipment, or attend meetings. 
-Ability to lift and carry items up to 10-20 pounds occasionally (e.g., files, office supplies). 
-Visual acuity to view a computer screen and read documents for prolonged periods. 
-Ability to communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and via written correspondence.
