Job description

Position Summary:

Position supports Senior Counsel - Compliance & Risk Management in handling legal compliance and risk management matters for HMMA. Coordinates with other Legal & Compliance Team Members to accomplish departmental objectives.

Essential Functions:
  • Work with Senior Counsel on various compliance matters, including adherence to various laws and company policies.
  • Partner with Senior Counsel to develop compliance policies, procedures, processes, and systems.
  • Assist Senior Counsel with conducting compliance risk assessments and oversee compliance hotline monitoring.
  • Work with Senior Counsel to conduct internal investigations and to prepare internal investigation reports.
  • Work with Senior Counsel and other in house attorneys to conduct various legal audits.
  • Work with Senior Counsel to conduct legal training to educate Team Members on applicable laws.
  • Assist Senior Counsel with preparing annual compliance report.
  • Oversee the compliance hotline.
  • Help with document retention requirements.
  • Work with Corporate Counsel on day-to-day collection and storage of contracts.
  • Help Corporate Counsel run monthly Contract Status meetings.
  • Prepare and file UCC Financing Statements.
  • Help track and report any compliance, risk management, or legal developments in laws that may affect the company.
  • Assist with insurance policy renewals and insurance requirements.
  • Help develop crisis management plans and strategies.
  • Handle e-discovery matters, including using forensic computer software to image computers.
  • Always display exemplary ethical behavior, including: (1) being free of undue influence and conflicts of interest; (2) strictly complying with HMMA policies and procedures; (3) being honest, transparent, and accountable; (4) report all known illegal or unethical behavior; and (5) protecting confidential information.
  • Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements.
  • Meet all other requirements as assigned.
Education:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent preferred

Related Experience:
  • 0 - 10 years of job related experience preferred
  • 3 years of experience as a paralegal preferred

Additional Information:
