Key Responsibilities
  • Administer, monitor, and maintain PostgreSQL databases hosted on Azure to ensure high availability, reliability, performance, and security.
  • Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and support PostgreSQL database environments across development, test, staging, and production platforms.
  • Design and implement database backup, restore, replication, disaster recovery, and high availability strategies.
  • Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, capacity planning, and proactive health checks.
  • Support Azure database services, virtual machines, storage, networking, security, monitoring, and automation related to database platforms.
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, cloud, and security teams to troubleshoot complex database and platform issues.
  • Implement database security controls including access management, encryption, auditing, compliance, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Develop automation scripts using PowerShell, Azure CLI, Python, shell scripting, or similar tools to streamline database operations.
  • Participate in incident, problem, change, and release management processes, including CAB approvals and production deployment support.
  • Prepare technical documentation, SOPs, runbooks, architecture notes, migration plans, and operational reports.
  • Work with business stakeholders to understand requirements, provide consulting-style advisory inputs, and deliver solutions aligned to project objectives and SOW commitments.
  • Provide on-call or after-hours support as required for critical production systems.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong hands-on experience in PostgreSQL Database Administration, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, backup, recovery, replication, and performance tuning.
  • Experience supporting PostgreSQL databases on Microsoft Azure, including Azure VMs, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, storage, networking, monitoring, and security services.
  • Good understanding of Azure cloud architecture, availability zones, disaster recovery, scalability, cost optimization, and cloud best practices.
  • Experience with database migration, upgrade planning, data validation, rollback planning, and production cutover support.
  • Strong SQL skills with the ability to troubleshoot slow queries, locking, indexing, resource contention, and database performance issues.
  • Working knowledge of Linux and Windows server environments used for database hosting and administration.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools for database performance, availability, logs, alerts, and capacity trends.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes including incident management, problem management, change management, and capacity management.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong communication, documentation, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.

The expected compensation for this role ranges from $60,000 to $135,000 .
Final compensation will depend on various factors, including your geographical location, minimum wage obligations, skills, and relevant experience. Based on the position, the role is also eligible for Wipro's standard benefits including a full range of medical and dental benefits options, disability insurance, paid time off (inclusive of sick leave), other paid and unpaid leave options.
