Job description

Do you enjoy working with numbers, ensuring accuracy in financial systems, and supporting compliance in a government contracting environment? Are you experienced in managing accounting operations and contributing to month-end close activities?
Avid Core is seeking an Accounting Specialist to support financial operations and compliance activities for our growing organization. This role will focus on maintaining our accounting system in Unanet, supporting DCAA compliance efforts, and performing day-to-day accounting functions to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $100,000, based on experience and qualifications.
Overall Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and support the company's accounting system in Unanet, including data integrity, reporting, and system updates
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with DCAA, FAR, and related federal contracting requirements
  • Process accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions in an accurate and timely manner
  • Prepare and post adjusting journal entries
  • Perform cash reconciliations, including monthly bank account reconciliations
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including account analysis and reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate financial records, documentation, and audit-ready files
  • Assist with internal and external audits, including preparation of supporting documentation
  • Identify discrepancies, recommend corrective actions, and support process improvements
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure proper financial tracking and reporting across projects
  • Provide general accounting and administrative support as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Skills:
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in government contracting or a related field
  • Experience with Unanet (or similar ERP systems such as Deltek Costpoint) required
  • Familiarity with DCAA compliance, FAR, and cost accounting standards preferred
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting
  • Experience preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
