Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Accounting Business Systems Analyst (BSA) with deep expertise in insurance accounting and financial systems. This role bridges Accounting, Insurance Operations, and IT to drive process optimization, system enhancements, and data integrity across finance and insurance platforms.
The ideal candidate combines strong knowledge of statutory accounting, reinsurance, regulatory reporting, and hands-on experience with ERP and insurance policy/claims systems.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements Gathering & Business Analysis
  • Partner with Accounting, Finance, Underwriting, Claims, Actuarial, and Billing teams to gather and document requirements.
  • Analyze insurance workflows including:
    • Policy administration
    • Premium billing
    • Claims accounting
    • Commission processing
    • Reinsurance settlements (ceded & assumed)
  • Translate requirements into:
    • Process maps
    • Functional specifications
    • User stories
    • Acceptance criteria
System Implementation & Integration
  • Support implementation and enhancement of ERP and insurance systems such as:
    • SAP FI/CO
    • Oracle Cloud
    • Guidewire (Billing, Policy, Claims)
    • Duck Creek
  • Design and validate integrations between policy, billing, claims, and general ledger systems.
  • Lead SIT and UAT coordination, defect management, and change control processes.
Insurance Accounting & Process Optimization
  • Optimize accounting processes for:
    • Premium recognition
    • Unearned Premium Reserves (UPR)
    • Loss reserves & IBNR
    • Claims payments
    • Commission accounting
  • Implement reinsurance accounting logic:
    • Treaty & facultative
    • Proportional & non-proportional
    • Bordereaux & settlements
  • Collaborate with Actuarial and Underwriting on:
    • Loss ratio
    • Combined ratio
    • Reserve reporting
Data Integrity & Regulatory Reporting
  • Ensure reconciliation between sub-ledgers and General Ledger.
  • Develop dashboards and KPIs such as:
    • Written vs. earned premium
    • Loss & LAE
    • Expense ratios
  • Support statutory reporting including:
    • NAIC Statements
    • Schedule P
    • Schedule F
Compliance & Internal Controls
  • Ensure adherence to:
    • GAAP
    • Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP)
    • SOX
    • State insurance regulations
  • Design and maintain internal controls, audit documentation, and data lineage artifacts.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Act as liaison between Accounting, IT, Underwriting, Claims, Actuarial, and Compliance.
  • Facilitate workshops, sprint planning sessions, and stakeholder reviews.
  • Align technical solutions with financial and regulatory requirements.
