Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to manage the financial operations of our Paint and Mud company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies. Knowledge of inventory costing and familiarity with construction or industrial supply sectors is highly preferred.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management:
    • Maintain general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll functions.
    • Reconcile bank statements and ensure accurate financial reporting.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Monitor company cash flow and assist in budgeting and forecasting.
  • Cost & Inventory Accounting:
    • Track raw material and finished product inventories (e.g., paints, thinners, joint compounds, etc.).
    • Assist in product costing and margin analysis.
    • Analyze variances between actual costs and standard costs.
  • Tax and Regulatory Compliance:
    • Prepare and file VAT/GST, income tax, and other statutory returns.
    • Liaise with auditors and regulatory authorities during inspections or audits.
  • Operational Support:
    • Collaborate with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure accurate stock valuation.
    • Provide financial insights to support pricing, project bids, and vendor negotiations.
    • Ensure proper documentation of all financial transactions in compliance with internal controls.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the manufacturing, construction, or building materials sector.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., SysPro).
  • Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficient in QuickBooks, sales tax, bank reconciliations and journal entries, property taxes, small/family business background 
  • Experience in handling cost accounting in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with logistics, supply chain, and inventory flow.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare management reports.
