D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Insurance Account Specialist in the Main Office Department. The Insurance Account Specialist is responsible for managing and organizing policy repository, tracking renewal deadlines, interfacing between operational units and insurance brokers, preparing applications, tracking policy changes, and assisting with reporting and handling claims.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Monitor billing to ensure timely payment of insurance premiums and assist with the tracking of insurance accruals
  • Gather information and prepare applications for placement or renewal of insurance policies
  • Monitor and track policy changes over multi year period
  • Gather documentation for claims reporting and work to get the claim processed and paid by the carrier
  • Meet regularly with brokers and underwriters to understand insurance products, rates, and coverages
  • Calendar insurance renewal deadlines and provide administrative support to the insurance placement and renewal process
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company

Education and/or Experience
  • Associate degree required
  • Three to five years insurance industry experience
  • Active insurance license in your state or willing to get licensed in 90 days
  • Must have very strong follow up, written and verbal communication skills and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with attention to detail
  • Ability to work well within a team
