What is an insulator helper?

Insulator Helpers assist insulation workers by supplying or holding materials, tools, and equipment, and by cleaning work areas and equipment. They help install insulating materials to prevent energy loss or protect against fire and noise in buildings, pipes, or mechanical systems. Their tasks often include measuring, cutting, and applying insulation under the guidance of more experienced insulators, as well as loading and unloading materials and preparing surfaces for insulation installation.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as an insulator helper?

To thrive as an Insulator Helper, you need basic mechanical aptitude, physical stamina, and a high school diploma or equivalent, with some employers preferring prior construction experience. Familiarity with hand and power tools, personal protective equipment (PPE), and safety regulations is typically required. Strong teamwork, attention to detail, and willingness to follow instructions are standout soft skills in this role. These abilities ensure insulation materials are installed safely and efficiently, contributing to energy efficiency and workplace safety.

What challenges do insulator helpers face on the job, and how can they prepare for them?

Insulator Helpers often work in physically demanding environments, including confined spaces and at heights, which can be challenging for those new to the field. They may also be exposed to fluctuating temperatures and need to handle materials like fiberglass or foam safely. To prepare, it's important to maintain good physical fitness, become familiar with safety protocols, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Working closely with experienced insulators and asking questions can also help new helpers adapt quickly and work efficiently as part of the team.

D2D Roofing Appointment Setter -- Utah

Simple Modern Energy

Job description

We're looking for driven, resilient people who'd rather be out talking to homeowners than sitting behind a desk. As a Setter, you're the first face of SME in the neighborhoods we work โ€” no closing required, just great conversations and a knack for getting a homeowner to say "yes, let's talk more."

About Simple Modern Energy

Simple Modern Energy (SME) is a Utah-based home energy brokerage, in business for 3+ years. We help homeowners cut what they pay for power through solar, battery storage, roofing, and insulation โ€” all under one team instead of a handful of separate contractors, with real installer partnerships and real numbers before anyone signs anything. We're growing the sales team behind that experience.

About the Role

You'll canvass assigned Utah neighborhoods door-to-door, introduce homeowners to what SME offers, and set qualified in-home appointments for our closing team. Twelve months in, top setters have a track record of high-quality, high-show-rate appointments and a real shot at moving into a closing role if that's the path they want.

What You'll Do

  • Canvass assigned neighborhoods door-to-door, 5+ hours per day in the field
  • Educate homeowners on solar savings and gauge genuine interest
  • Schedule qualified in-home appointments for SME's closing team
  • Log leads and activity accurately in SME app.
  • Represent SME professionally in every doorstep conversation
  • Hit daily and weekly appointment-setting targets

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • 18 years or older
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to assigned territories
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather, on your feet for extended periods
  • Thick skin โ€” comfortable with a high-volume, high-rejection environment
  • Punctual and reliable; this role runs on showing up
  • Eligible to work in the US

Preferred (nice to have):

  • Prior door-to-door, canvassing, or commission sales experience
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Compensation

  • 1099 independent contractor
  • Paid training provided before you're out in the field solo

How to Apply

Send your resume (or a quick note about your sales background) to support@simplemodernenergy.com or message us directly on LinkedIn โ€” mention this posting and we'll follow up within a few business days.
