Position Summary
The Insulation Specialist leads and oversees the entire insulation function within the organization - driving operational excellence, safety performance, team development, client satisfaction, and revenue growth. This senior lead role sets the strategic direction for insulation services for MBC Houston division, builds strong cross-functional partnerships, and ensures the division meets quality, financial, and safety goals.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of progressive insulation experience (residential and/or commercial), including blown-in, fiberglass, and spray foam applications.
  • Strong technical knowledge of insulation systems and building science (R-values, air sealing, ventilation, moisture control), including spray foam chemistry, substrates, and cure/temperature/humidity impacts.
  • Ability to review plans/specs and job scopes, set installation standards, and ensure work meets manufacturer requirements, contract documents, and applicable building codes.
  • Experience selecting, maintaining, and managing insulation equipment and vendors (e.g., blown-in machines, spray foam proportioners/hoses/guns), including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and inventory controls.
  • Proven ability to lead safety and quality programs (OSHA compliance, respiratory protection, SDS/chemical handling for spray foam, job hazard analysis) and drive a culture of accountability.
  • Management capability: lead supervisors/crews, set production targets, coordinate schedules, and enforce workmanship standards across multiple jobs. Experience in purchasing & pricing of labor & materials.
  • Operational and financial acumen: estimating/pricing input, labor and material forecasting, budget management, and KPI tracking (margin, rework, safety, cycle time).
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills; able to lead meetings, resolve escalations, and coordinate effectively with sales, production, and field leadership.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Spray foam credentialing and manufacturer training (e.g., SPFA PCP or equivalent) and experience managing spray foam quality controls (ratio, pressure, temperature, lift thickness).
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes and energy-efficiency requirements; experience preparing for inspections and implementing standard operating procedures.
  • Experience with project management, scheduling, and reporting tools; able to build dashboards and communicate performance to leadership.

Strategic & Operational Leadership
  • Lead and manage all insulation operations across projects and divisions.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans that grow the insulation business, expand market presence, and improve profitability.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, finance, and other departments to align insulation goals with overall organizational objectives.
  • Oversee the purchase of all equipment needed locally for insulation installation at MBC.

Team & Performance Management
  • Provide leadership and direction to insulation managers, supervisors, and field teams.
  • Set performance standards and coach team to exceed expectations.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and professional growth.

Safety & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure all insulation operations comply with applicable safety standards, codes, and company policies.
  • Promote best practices in quality control and jobsite safety across all projects.

Client & Vendor Relations
  • Maintain and grow key client relationships; serve as a senior liaison for major accounts.
  • Establish and manage strategic partnerships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to optimize service delivery and cost efficiency.

Business Development
  • Identify new market opportunities, service lines, or product offerings to expand the insulation segment.
  • Support estimating, pricing strategies, bid preparation and contract negotiations as needed.

Budgeting & Financial Oversight
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and resource plans for the insulation function.
  • Monitor project and division profitability, taking corrective actions to improve financial outcomes.
