Rotation:ย 3 Weeks On / 2 Weeks Off
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Industrial / Construction Instrument Fitter & Safety System Lead to support ongoing industrial project work in the Carlsbad, NM area. This role is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, testing of instrumentation systems.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical instrumentation experience and a proven commitment to jobsite safety, quality, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
Instrument Fitter & Technical Duties
  • Install and bend tubing for process equipment and instrumentation systems
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and pneumatic schematics
  • Support commissioning and startup activities for process systems
  • Ensure proper installation of safety instrumented systems (SIS)
Instrument Safety System Leadership
  • Lead implementation of site safety systems and procedures
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and job hazard analyses (JHAs)
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety standards
  • Identify and mitigate hazards in real time on active job sites
  • Mentor crews on safe work practices and procedural compliance
Construction Support & Leadership
  • Coordinate with supervisors and other trades
  • Oversee instrument fitter crews in the field
  • Verify quality control and installation standards are met
  • Support scheduling and workflow coordination on rotating shifts
Requirements
  • 5+ years of industrial instrument fitter experience. Preferred knowledge/experience in group bending and bending order changes.
  • Strong background as an instrument fitter in oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments
  • Experience with safety instrumented systems (SIS) strongly preferred
  • Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and loop sheets
  • Proven leadership experience on active construction sites
  • Willingness to work a 3 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation
  • Must be able to work in outdoor and industrial environments, including extreme conditions
