Instrument Fitter Helper

Must be able to install and remove various instrumentation, such as indicators, recorders, telemetry, controllers, transmitters, transducers and analyzers used to measure and control variables, such as pressure, flow and temperature.  This is accomplished by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reads and works from related blueprints and other schematic drawings.
  • Installs and/or removes various instrumentation devices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of pneumatics, electronics and electricity.
  • Cuts, bends, and installs pipe tubing or conduit for the installation of air or process lines for instrument controls using hacksaws and pipe cutters for the proper installation of the instrumentation device.
  • Installs instruments, instrument stands and control wiring to valves and strokes valves to verify operation.
  • Installation and calibration of recorders, alarms, switches and other devices.
  • May steam trace lines when necessary.
  • May install flanges and orifice plates.
  • May repair steam traps.
  • May perform other duties necessary in order to remove, install or troubleshoot instrumentation devices.
  • Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meet state regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required for this Position:

Education – no minimum education requirements.

Experience – 6 months to 1yr.
