Location: Cuyahoga Falls City Schools / Cuyahoga Falls, OH

About the Role

Dedicated School Staffing is seeking reliable and enthusiastic Substitute Cosmetology Teachers to provide instructional support and classroom management in the absence of the regular cosmetology instructor. This role ensures continuity of learning by supervising students in both theory and hands-on lab work, maintaining safety standards, and supporting students' progress toward state licensure requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver prepared lesson plans in cosmetology theory, practical skills, and salon operations
  • Demonstrate basic cosmetology techniques as appropriate to the substitute's training and comfort level
  • Guide students through hands-on activities such as hairstyling, manicuring, skincare, sanitation, and customer service
  • Reinforce professional standards, industry expectations, and program competencies
  • Maintain a safe, sanitary, and organized classroom and lab environment
  • Monitor students' use of tools, chemicals, and equipment to ensure compliance with state board regulations and school policies
  • Provide clear direction and maintain appropriate classroom behavior
  • Supervise students working with mannequins, peers, or clients (if applicable)
  • Take attendance, manage student work, and document progress as directed
  • Follow all school procedures regarding equipment use, chemical handling, and safety protocols
  • Support daily salon-lab operations, including setup, cleanup, and inventory checks


Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current cosmetology license
  • Valid substitute teaching license or higher teaching license (as required by state regulations)
  • Clean criminal background checks
  • Strong knowledge of cosmetology fundamentals, safety practices, and sanitation standards
  • Ability to manage a classroom, communicate clearly, and maintain professionalism
  • Adherence to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators
