Job description

Note: There are strong internal candidates for this role. About the Role Reporting to the Aquatic Centre Supervisor and Coordinator, the Aquatics Instructor III provides all participants with safe, fun, professional-led courses. They must do so following Lifesaving and CAR standards.

Working within the Cougars Athletics and Recreation department, these are flexible positions whose work schedule is variable and may include an irregular schedule of not less than three (3) hours per shift and up to thirty-five (35) hours per week. These positions will end April 23, 2027. Responsibilities 1.

Instruction and Program Delivery (75%) Plan, organize, and deliver programs in accordance with CAR and Lifesaving Society standards. Demonstrate proper techniques effectively for participants of varying skill levels. Adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.

Evaluate participant performance and provide constructive feedback. Maintain a safe learning environment by enforcing facility rules, modeling professionalism, and ensuring proper use of equipment. Ensure the safety of all participants during instructional sessions through vigilant supervision, risk assessment, and proactive intervention.

2. Customer Service and Public Relations (10%) Foster positive relationships with participants through clear communication and a professional demeanor. Address participant questions and concerns promptly and professionally.

Consult Aquatic Leadership Programmer and Lifesaving Society as needed. 3. Administrative (10%) Complete all administrative documentation accurately and on time, including attendance, evaluation forms, certification paperwork, and course records.

Maintain current certifications. 4. Additional Duties as Assigned (5%) Assist with special events or tasks as needed.

Qualifications Current Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Instructor, First Aid Instructor, Lifesaving Instructor Trainer, and a valid Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C/AED.
