Job Summary
Tuskegee University is seeking a dynamic and experienced Program Manager to lead the launch and ongoing management of the Tuskegee University Global Campus (TUGC), the university's online learning initiative. This role is critical in driving the strategic planning, development, and implementation of online programs that align with the university's vision of expanding access to quality education. The Program Manager will work closely with the Office of Distance Education and Online Learning (ODEOL), faculty, IT, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of this initiative.
Essential Job Duties
Strategic Planning and Development:
  • Lead the strategic planning process for TUGC in alignment with the university's overall mission and goals
  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify trends, target demographics, and competitive positioning for online programs
  • Develop and refine the overall project plan, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation

Program Design and Curriculum Development:
  • Collaborate with academic departments to identify and develop online programs and courses, ensuring they meet accreditation standards and market demand
  • Oversee the design and implementation of course content, working with instructional designers, faculty, and technical staff
  • Ensure that all programs incorporate best practices in online pedagogy, accessibility, and student engagement

Faculty and Staff Coordination:
  • Coordinate with the ODEOL to provide training and development for faculty on online teaching methodologies and technology
  • Manage the recruitment and onboarding of key personnel, including instructional designers, technologists, and support staff

Technology and Infrastructure Management:
  • Work with IT and other stakeholders to assess and upgrade technological infrastructure, including the Learning Management System (LMS) and related tools
  • Ensure the seamless integration of online systems such as student registration, payment processing, and digital records management

Marketing and Recruitment:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and recruitment strategy to attract prospective students to the TUGC
  • Coordinate virtual tours, informational sessions, and outreach efforts to maximize enrollment
  • Develop and implement international recruitment strategies to expand the global presence of TUGC, attracting students from diverse regions worldwide
  • Build and manage relationships with global education partners, including universities, government agencies, and international recruitment organizations, to enhance the international reach of online programs
  • Ensure that online programs meet international accreditation and compliance standards, facilitating global recognition and appeal of TUGC offerings

Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of online programs and student outcomes
  • Lead pilot testing of online programs, collecting feedback to inform continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, including federal and state requirements

Student and Faculty Support:
  • Develop robust support services for online students, including academic advising, tutoring, career services, and mental health resources
  • Provide ongoing support and resources for faculty to maintain high-quality online instruction

Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
Education
Master's degree in educational technology, instructional design, higher education administration, or a related field
A doctorate is preferred
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in higher education, with a focus on online learning, program management, or instructional design
Proven track record of leading large-scale online program launches or similar initiatives in an academic setting
Experience in managing cross-functional teams and working with academic leadership
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a similar role within a university setting, particularly with the launch and management of online degree programs
