Detroit Community Schools is hiring a full time Dean of Instruction. Valid Michigan teaching certification and a minimum of 5+ years of teaching experience if required.

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Dean of Instruction to join our team. The Dean of Instruction will collaborate with teachers and administrators to enhance instructional practices, improve student outcomes, and foster a culture of continuous growth and development within our educational community.

Job Responsibilities
  • Work closely with teachers to assess instructional practices and provide personalized coaching to enhance teaching effectiveness and student engagement.
  • Design and facilitate professional development workshops, training sessions, and instructional strategies that align with curriculum goals and teacher needs.
  • Analyze student performance data to identify areas for improvement and develop targeted strategies to boost instructional outcomes.
  • Assist in the implementation of district-wide curriculum initiatives, ensuring alignment with state standards and best practices.
  • Demonstrate effective instructional strategies in the classroom, serving as a model for teachers and providing real-time feedback.
  • Foster positive relationships with teachers, students, and administration to create a supportive and collaborative learning environment.
  • Curate and share resources, tools, and best practices that align with instructional goals and meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Collaborate with teachers to set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals for instructional improvement.
  • Continuously assess the effectiveness of coaching strategies and make adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Serve as a mentor to novice teachers and those seeking to enhance their instructional practices.
  • Assist with office operations including maintaining documents and procedures
  • Effectively communicate with students, staff, and parents
  • Work independently and with others to fulfill school goals and objectives
Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field (Masterโ€™s degree preferred).
  • Demonstrated expertise in instructional strategies, pedagogy, and best practices in teaching and learning.
  • Strong knowledge of current educational trends, research, and data-driven instruction.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to foster a positive learning environment and build collaborative relationships.
  • Proficiency in using technology for instructional purposes and data analysis.
