Position Summary
The Director of Admission provides strategic leadership for the recruitment, selection, and enrollment of students into the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) program. This position is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive admissions strategy aligned with institutional mission and enrollment goals. The Director ensures compliance with COCA accreditation standards and all applicable regulatory and institutional requirements, while utilizing data-driven decision-making to optimize recruitment outcomes and applicant quality. Ensures alignment of all admissions strategies and decisions with the mission and values of the School of Osteopathic Medicine.
Requirements:Essential Job Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive, data-driven admissions strategy aligned with institutional mission and enrollment targets
- Establish annual admissions calendar, milestones, and performance metrics
- Serve as primary liaison between Admissions, the Dean of the School of Osteopathic Medicine, and the Admissions Committee
- Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development to admissions staff
- Ensure admissions strategy, recruitment practices, and selection processes are aligned with the mission and values of the School of Osteopathic Medicine
- Provide direct supervision, performance management, and annual evaluations for admissions staff
- Participate in recruitment, selection, and onboarding of admissions coordinators and related personnel, in collaboration with Human Resources and institutional leadership
Team Leadership and Development
- Supervise admissions team members, including assigning work, setting priorities, and conducting performance evaluations
- Participate in hiring processes for admissions coordinators and other support staff, including interviewing and selection recommendations
- Provide coaching, development, and accountability structures to support team performance and retention
Admissions Operations and Oversight
- Direct the full admissions lifecycle from inquiry through matriculation
- Oversee AACOMAS application processing and ensure timely, accurate workflow management
- Lead Admissions Committee operations, including training, calibration, and holistic review standards
- Design and oversee interview processes, including interviewer training and evaluation systems
- Ensure compliance with COCA standards, AACOMAS policies, FERPA, and institutional regulations
- Develop and manage the annual admissions budget, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources and alignment with departmental and institutional priorities
Recruitment and Outreach Strategy
- Direct recruitment strategy for local, regional, and national markets
- Cultivate partnerships with undergraduate institutions, pre-health advisors, and pipeline programs
- Develop targeted outreach initiatives aligned with institutional priorities (e.g., primary care, rural medicine)
- Oversee development of admissions marketing materials in coordination with Marketing and Communications
Data, Systems, and Reporting
- Oversee Slate CRM configuration, workflow, and communication strategy
- Analyze admissions data to assess conversion rates, yield, and recruitment effectiveness
- Provide regular enrollment reports, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to leadership
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in higher education admissions.
Medical School Specific: Experience in medical, dental, veterinary, or other professional health program admissions strongly preferred, including experience managing AACOMAS, AMCAS, or comparable centralized application systems.
Technical Requirements: Proficiency with Slate or comparable CRM/admissions systems

- Communication: Strong written and oral communication skills, including public presentation ability and ability to clearly articulate the mission of osteopathic medical education.
