Job description

Manages on-site installation of small to large deliveries, small to large installation projects, daily service accounts and punch lists. Ensures timely completion, high quality of service and cost-effective management of labor and installation resources. Functions as installation foreman with quality, personnel, technical, customer and administrative responsibility for each supervised project.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Personal and Interpersonal Skills

- Help train and develop other lead men and installers. Instill Manning Group’s service philosophy and core values throughout the installation team.

- Is comfortable and professional with crew, customers, and office personnel, professional in appearance and in social interaction with others

- Has physical strength and stamina required to lift and move furniture, boxes, and equipment, often more than 75 lbs.

- Has excellent oral and written communication skills

- Maintains a positive attitude, even in difficult and stressful situations

- Provides strong leadership and has full respect of crews

- Has a strong work ethic and a very ethical approach to business.

- Is punctual and self-motivated

- Ability to work irregular hours and extended shifts including overnight, out of town assignments.

- Completes required projects, regardless of importance, with a positive attitude.

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

- Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.

- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

- Must communicate via telephone to management, customers, vendors, and/or other employees.

Technical and Product Skills

- Has good understanding of contract furniture scope of work including account servicing, product preparation, customer interface, delivery & installation, Punch-list creation, and project close-out.

- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

- Understands and can read construction and furniture drawings and blueprints

- Is mechanically adept and has excellent installation technical abilities; proficient with tools and equipment; excellent at custom applications; finished installations are of high quality

- Is extremely product knowledgeable, across all lines of furniture, can figure out installation of new lines through analysis and extrapolation.

- Understands correct product application and use, can do small layouts, and reconfigures without prints.

- Is fully knowledgeable of electricity, electrical hookups to building power, basic furniture codes, and other technical installation issues.

- Basic computer technical ability to use devices such as a Smart Phone or Tablet. Ability to use these tools to access information and instructions.

Responsibility and Decision-Making Skills

- Accepts accountability for project success including completion, schedule adherence, punch-list, customer satisfaction, job site appearance and cleanliness etc.

- Acts as part of the management team; assists in developing and implementing Manning Group’s procedures, work practices, standards of performance, etc.

- Understands time management and cost accounting

- Can react to varying project/field conditions and able to make decisions to solve problems and changes in the scope of work

- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations

Administrative Skills

- Maintains detailed and complete records of installation project work, including time capture in FFA, receiving documentation, change orders, product returns, punch lists, etc.

- Communicates, and documents in writing, project status, problems, and punch-list to project management personnel

- Communicates frequently with Project Managers on project status (start of day, and end of day, minimum) and with client, before arrival and at end of job.

- Returns phone calls (leave voice mail), responds to voice mails quickly (leads to carry working phones while on jobs).

Installation Management Skills

- Can plan, organize, and effectively direct a large crew of installers on small to large projects. (Up to crews of 16 or more)

- Can supervise and manage large and/or complex installation projects

- Strong crew leader who sets daily performance/result expectations, and has the respect of his/her crew

- Has excellent material handling and logistic skills, practices efficient material handling on, and off, site

- Conducts comprehensive site reviews, pre-installation meetings and reviews, and participates in construction and/or project meetings as representative of the customer.

- Reviews work order documentation and drawings

- Consistently completes projects at or below stated hours

- Manages project completion through final close-out, including punch-list and final project completion

- Comfortable driving a 24’ straight or cube truck and can do so safely

- Maintain a safe driving record and follow all DOT rules and regulations
