What does an installation manager do?

Installation manager is a managerial role in any industry that involves the installation of a complex system or structure. In this career, your job duties are to supervise the team for each installation project assigned to you, decide the schedule for work, hire any necessary suppliers or installers for your team, and help with material handling. Depending on the company for which you work, you may act as a liaison between the client and the team. This is an extremely social position, as you communicate with customers, technical teams, outside suppliers, and financers on a daily basis. Most installation managers focus on a specific type of installation, such as flooring or appliances, so you may need additional industry relevant experience or skills to succeed in this position.

How does an installation manager typically coordinate with other teams during a project?

An Installation Manager plays a central role in liaising between various teams, including project managers, engineers, logistics, and client representatives. They ensure that installation schedules align with overall project timelines and that all necessary resources and information are communicated clearly. Regular meetings and status updates are common, and Installation Managers often resolve issues that arise on-site by collaborating closely with both technical and non-technical staff. This collaborative approach helps maintain project momentum and ensures that installations are completed efficiently and to standard.

Residential HVAC Installation Project Coordinator

Horne Heating and Air Conditioning
Charlotte Metropolitan Area

Full-Time | Salary Exempt | Hybrid Option Based on Experience
Salary: $50,000-$60,000 annually
Sign-On Bonus: Up to $10,000 for qualified candidates
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM based on seasonality, with occasional weekend or off-hours support during peak season

Use Your HVAC Experience Beyond the Field

After years in residential HVAC, you know that a successful installation starts well before the crew arrives at the home.

Horne Heating and Air Conditioning is hiring a Residential HVAC Installation Project Coordinator to use that field knowledge to plan sold installation projects, identify job requirements, and give our installation teams the information and materials they need to complete quality work.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned HVAC professional who understands residential installations but is ready for a role focused more heavily on planning, coordination, and operational support. A hybrid work option may be available based on experience.

Horne has served customers throughout the Charlotte metropolitan area in North Carolina and South Carolina since 1983. As a family-owned company, we operate around five core values: Honesty, Opportunity, Recognition, Neighborly, and Empowerment.

Compensation and Benefits
  • $50,000-$60,000 annual salary

  • Sign-on bonus up to $10,000 for qualified candidates

  • Quarterly performance incentives

  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance

  • Two weeks of accrued PTO

  • Paid holidays plus your birthday off

  • 401(k) with 3 percent full company match plus partial match on contributions of 4 to 5 percent

  • Take-home company vehicle

  • Company-provided iPad

  • Professional development and certification reimbursement

  • Relocation assistance available

  • Company uniforms with laundry service

  • Quarterly team events

  • Annual company celebration

  • Stable, year-round employment

Your Role

You'll serve as an important connection between sales and installation, making sure sold HVAC projects are properly prepared before they reach the field.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Review photos, measurements, scoping documents, and project information for sold residential HVAC installations

  • Build detailed installation plans and scopes of work

  • Determine the equipment, materials, parts, tools, and other resources required for each project

  • Identify potential jobsite or installation challenges in advance

  • Provide crews with clear instructions and accurate project information

  • Collaborate with the Installation Manager, Sales Manager, Comfort Consultants, and Service Team

  • Help ensure projects are properly staged and prepared for installation

  • Review completed jobs for missed details, callbacks, and recurring challenges

  • Identify opportunities to improve installation planning, efficiency, quality, and profitability

  • Maintain accurate project information using company technology and software

What We're Looking For
  • 10 or more years of residential HVAC experience

  • Extensive knowledge of residential HVAC equipment and installation practices

  • Ability to evaluate an installation and determine required equipment and materials

  • Strong planning, organization, and attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong computer proficiency

  • Experience with ServiceTitan, CompanyCam, and Microsoft Office

  • Ability to work independently, including remotely when appropriate

  • Professional interpersonal and phone communication skills

  • Strong research and problem-solving abilities

  • Willingness to participate in regular in-person training

  • Availability for occasional off-hours support during peak season, generally April 15 through September 15

  • Team-oriented approach and ability to work across multiple departments

Bring Your Field Knowledge Into Project Planning

This role gives an experienced residential HVAC professional the opportunity to make an impact across the entire installation department. Instead of completing one installation at a time, you'll help multiple crews arrive prepared with a clear plan and the right resources.

If you have deep residential HVAC knowledge, understand what it takes to execute a quality installation, and are ready to apply your experience in a planning and coordination role, apply today to join Horne Heating and Air Conditioning as a Residential HVAC Installation Project Coordinator.
