Job description

BC2 Environmental is a California-based company specializing in environmental and geotechnical drilling. We offer a broad range of drilling services, including soil sampling, groundwater and vapor well installation, direct push sampling and groundwater monitoring. BC2 possesses the capabilities to handle complex site investigations and remediation projects, including those requiring hollow stem augering, sonic drilling, air/mud rotary drilling, air vacuum excavation, and water well development.

About the Role

The Project Manager functions as an integral part of local operations, helping clients conceptualize and scope technical projects, estimating costs, planning work, and directing the implementation of field work. The Project Manager ensures that projects are delivered on time and within budget, and provides the organization with expertise to ensure the successful delivery of assigned projects — including large, complex, and high-profile engagements.

This role works closely with all facets of the company to help ensure safe, efficient, and quality work. A background in environmental and/or geotechnical drilling field operations is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

•       Manage daily crew and project scheduling, including dispatch documents for field/yard crews and the accounting department

•       Complete project cost estimates and proposals; contribute scoping and estimating support for large capture efforts

•       Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and work plans; monitor progress and make adjustments to meet milestones

•       Obtain and manage project-specific documents including work orders, JSAs, city business licenses, and permits

•       Plan and coordinate field work including drilling, well installation, soil and groundwater sampling, and related activities

Field Oversight & Safety

•       Manage and oversee drilling field crews (rotary, sonic, auger, direct push, etc. as applicable)

•       Practice and enforce safe work techniques, safety policies, guidelines, and procedures at all times

•       Conduct regular site visits on new and active project opportunities to evaluate site conditions

•       Ensure all field logs, reports, and compliance documentation are complete and accurate — including daily driller reports, well logs, training logs, and inspection logs

Client & Stakeholder Relations

•       Maintain positive relations with existing and potential clients, consultants, property owners, and governmental/regulatory personnel

•       Ensure the team is providing excellent customer service on every project

•       Serve as primary point of contact for clients during project execution

Operations & Administration

•       Oversee project invoicing and manage accounts in coordination with the accounting department

•       Order and manage inventory of supplies, tooling, and equipment

•       Review employee time, coding, and payroll data

•       Regular local travel required; some out-of-town travel may be required

Qualifications

Education & Experience

•       Bachelor’s degree in geosciences, environmental science, engineering, or related discipline preferred

•       Equivalent: GED or Associate’s degree with 7+ years of relevant drilling/environmental project experience and demonstrated project management capability

•       Experience in the environmental and/or geotechnical drilling industry, and experience in a project management capacity are preferred

Technical Skills

•       Knowledge and hands-on experience with one or more drilling methods: rotary, sonic, hollow stem auger, or direct push

•       Familiarity with site investigation, groundwater sampling, and well installation techniques

•       Understanding of OSHA, DOT, and site-specific health and safety requirements

•       Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Soft Skills

•       Strong verbal and written communication skills

•       Ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects and deadlines

•       Desire and interest in supporting field staff and promoting a culture of quality and safety

•       Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL a plus)

•       Pass background check and drug screen
