The Installation Lead assists with leading, directing, and supervising the installation of commercial doors, including hollow metal doors, wood doors, door hardware and accessories in the field. This includes assisting with supervising the performance of D8 Installer associates while implementing and enforcing processes to meet production quota, quality control requirements and construction deadlines. The Install Lead is the secondary contact for enforcing safe work practices for D8 Installers. This position includes daily heavy lifting and physical activity.
Essential Functions
โ€ข Assists with overseeing field installation of assigned projects
โ€ข Helps monitor material flow in the field, including receiving of doors and hardware; assuring quality, accuracy and efficiency at all points
โ€ข Assists installation manager with monitoring production schedules, daily door/hardware installation; recommends adjustments to schedule as needed to meet construction deadlines
โ€ข Assists with supervising D8 Installers while keeping accurate attendance records and maintaining a productive work environment
โ€ข Communicates with management, via email or phone conversations, in a clear and professional manner
โ€ข Assists with training and communicating job expectations to D8 Installers
โ€ข Assists with performance appraisals and coaching
โ€ข Maintain a high level of accuracy, efficiency, and safety while ensuring quality standards
โ€ข Works independently and with other installers to install architectural doors, frames and hardware and Division 10 product; includes but not limited to, installing hollow metal frames, hollow metal doors, wood doors, and hardware for commercial applications
โ€ข Ensures manufacturer direction and warranty requirements when installing products
โ€ข Drives to job site and monitors installation of materials assuring that the daily schedule is complete and all installations are finished to the customer satisfaction
โ€ข Tracks time and materials as required for each installation project
โ€ข Other relative duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
โ€ข High school diploma or equivalent preferred
โ€ข 2 to 3 years of experience with the commercial door and hardware industry, required. Including installation experience with doors, frames and hardware products
โ€ข Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
โ€ข Clean driving record and 21+ years old required to drive for the company
โ€ข Must pass pre-employment background check and drug test
โ€ข Due to job site and Federal contractual requirements, COVID-19 vaccination strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
โ€ข Excellent written and verbal communication skills and problem solving skills
โ€ข Must be able to read, write and speak basic English in order to communicate with General Contractors
โ€ข Effective time management and organization skills
โ€ข Effective communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate and understand detailed instructions
โ€ข Basic computer skills
โ€ข Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
โ€ข Ability to work independently, efficiently and meet deadlines.
โ€ข Ability to read and use a measuring tape, level and other required tools for installation
โ€ข Excellent interpersonal skills required
โ€ข Ability to safely lift 120 pounds
Physical Demands
Spends majority of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands and reaching. Frequent lifting required of items 25-50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Work Environment
May be exposed to variable weather conditions. Other conditions may include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware. Worker is subject to frequent heavy lifting.
