About This Role

EnergyUnited is seeking a Test Technician I or II to support the construction, operation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of substations, metering systems, communications equipment, and related electrical infrastructure. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable delivery of electric services to cooperative members through preventive maintenance, equipment testing, outage restoration, and technical support activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, maintain, and repair substation and distribution equipment.
  • Perform substation inspections, minor switching, and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Maintain low-voltage substation systems including batteries, lighting, control buildings, security systems, grounding systems, and oil containment equipment.
  • Test insulating oil and respond to environmental incidents in accordance with regulations.
  • Install, test, calibrate, and repair electric metering equipment.
  • Investigate and resolve power quality, load management, and metering issues.
  • Install and maintain SCADA, AMI, communications equipment, mobile radio systems, security cameras, LAN equipment, fiber networks, and Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs).
  • Participate in outage restoration, storm response, underground fault locating, and on-call assignments as required.
  • Install, maintain, and support standby generation, peak shaving equipment, and mobile substations.
  • Document maintenance activities, testing results, and repairs.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and industry standards.
  • Provide technical support to regional operations personnel and other departments.
