Job description

Job Overview:

R B Hinkle Construction Inc. is seeking a skilled and experienced Inside/Outside Wireman (Electrician) to perform electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs for commercial and industrial projects in the Sterling, Virginia area. This role requires proficiency in both interior and exterior electrical systems.
Job Responsibilities-

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with relevant codes and specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to determine the appropriate electrical layouts.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Work with both low and high voltage electrical systems.
  • Perform trenching and conduit installation for outside electrical work.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively with other construction trades and project teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent.
  • Operate a variety of tools and equipment safely and efficiently.


Job Qualifications-

  • Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent certification in Virginia is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of verifiable experience as an Inside/Outside Wireman or Electrician.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical codes.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Experience with commercial and industrial electrical installations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all safety procedures.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
