Job description

The Conduit Electrical Technician is responsible for installing, bending, assembling, and securing electrical conduit systems in commercial, industrial, and manufacturing environments. This position requires knowledge of electrical systems, conduit installation methods, blueprint reading, and compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) clearance requirements and safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install EMT, Rigid, PVC, and Flexible conduit systems according to project specifications and NEC requirements.
  • Measure, cut, thread, bend, and assemble conduit using hand and power tools.
  • Pull and route electrical wiring through conduit systems safely and efficiently.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, layouts, and electrical drawings.
  • Ensure all conduit installations maintain proper NEC clearances, spacing, and support requirements.
  • Install conduit racks, cable trays, junction boxes, panels, and related electrical components.
  • Verify conduit routing avoids interference with mechanical, plumbing, and structural systems.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA safety standards and company safety procedures.
  • Perform inspections to ensure installations meet local, state, and NEC code requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and repair conduit and electrical system issues when necessary.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to complete projects on schedule.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and equipment.

NEC Clearance and Compliance Requirements

  • Maintain NEC-required working clearances around electrical panels, disconnects, and equipment.
  • Ensure minimum clearance distances are maintained for safe access and operation of electrical systems.
  • Install conduit systems in accordance with NEC Article requirements for support, fill capacity, grounding, and bending radius.
  • Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures and electrical safety guidelines during installation and maintenance work.
  • Verify all installations meet inspection standards and pass electrical code compliance reviews.
  • 2-3 years experience.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 Years Experience installing electrical conduit in commercial, industrial, or manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of NEC codes, electrical clearances, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to operate conduit benders, threaders, knockout tools, and other electrical equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics.
  • Strong understanding of electrical installation practices and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to lift heavy materials, work at heights, and work in varying environmental conditions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
  • Experience with EMT, Rigid, IMC, and PVC conduit installation.
  • Knowledge of panel terminations and wire pulling techniques.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Ability to work overtime and travel to job sites when required.
