Position Overview
We are seeking an Inside Sales Representative with experience supporting industrial customers to join our Inside Sales team in Decatur, IL.
You will work directly with plant managers, engineers, procurement specialists, maintenance teams, and project managers to meet project specifications, submit timely quotations, and complete order execution in a fast paced environment.
If you have worked in industrial distribution, plant maintenance, contractor sales, or inside sales for engineered products, this role offers long-term stability and growth.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional service to a current base of customers (no cold calling).
  • Answer telephone calls or respond to customer correspondence regarding technical questions on products.
  • Identify customer expectations through effective communication.
  • Specify products based on customer application and/or engineering specifications.
  • Provide product quotations, figuring pricing, discounts, and shipping charges in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Generate orders with customer approval and inform customers of delivery timelines, back orders, shipping delays or any other critical order processing information.
  • Obtain purchase order, credit application, or credit card information to initiate customer payment.
  • Identify vendor source and place purchase orders for non-stock material.
  • Work closely with operations and accounting to resolve order, invoice, or credit issues.

Qualifications
  • Prior customer service or inside sales experience in an industrial, technical or B2B environment
  • Working knowledge of electrical, pneumatics, valves, instrumentation, mechanical assemblies, and/or a strong mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficient in MS Office software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
