Job description

Hexcel is currently seeking an Acousti-Cap Fabricator for our Casa Grande, AZ, USA location. Start rate: $25.75 Per Hour during the New Hire Orientation Period - normally 90 calendar days, then increases to $28.13 Per Hour. This position is on Grave shift (11:00PM to 7:00AM, Monday - Friday + O/T as required) and pays a $1.75 per hour shift premium. Note that the workday on Grave shift is designated by the day the shift ends.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

  • Sets up and operates all equipment associated with the preparation of core blanks for acoustical insertion and cap stabilization processing equipment, lay out and processing of acoustical panels.
  • Performs a wide variety of tasks associated with the acoustical panel and aircraft engine blanket fabrication. Tasks include set up, measurement, adjustment, regulation and control of all processes required to prepare core for acoustical insertion, control of insertion depth and consistency, control of dipping processes, measurement of flow impedance. Tasks include frequent use of computers to input, analyze and retrieve data.
  • Sets up and adjusts core edge prep machine, core slotting machine for quality of drainage slots. and septum insertion machine for depth and quality of insertion. Adjusts dipping process for depth of adhesive dip and determines time of dipping and drain.
  • Measures air flow impedance/Rayl value of septumized core using the flow testing equipment.
  • Adjusts oven temperature and loads oven with dipped core.
  • Verifies that resins, solvents, and adhesives are within required operating parameters as applicable to each production machine. Determines from M.O., the material to be processed and results to be achieved.
  • Adjusts machine temperature speed and air pressures.
  • Measures and/or checks material visually and/or physically to determine quality of process. Performs close range visual inspection of mesh caps and insertion depths. Visually inspects final product, as defined by visual aids, for shadow rings, holes, tears or debris in mesh caps, and alignment of cells between panels. Inspects and presents to internal customers products that meet or exceed the product specifications.
  • Monitors processes to ensure product is being built per WCI's and Job Routers. Utilizes SPC where required.
  • Operates other equipment as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year experience required preferably in manufacturing. Minimum of 6 months manufacturing experience in the Hexcel Casa Grande facility may substitute in lieu of one year experience.
  • Must be proficient in use of tape measure and ruler.
  • Basic working knowledge of computer data entry function required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
