Job description

We are looking for a talented CNC Machining Engineer - Weekend Night Shift (On-Site) to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Seymour Machining Center in Seymour, IN.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: 

  • Support Efficient Manufacturing Processes
    Assist in planning and implementing machining processes that improve productivity and meet product specifications.
  • Collaborate on Tooling and Part Selection
    Work with engineering teams to identify necessary parts and tools, reducing setup times and optimizing changeovers.
  • Contribute to Product and Performance Improvements
    Analyze product issues and recommend enhancements to improve quality and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in Design and Development Activities
    Assist in the design, development, and evaluation of technical products and systems to ensure alignment with manufacturing goals.
  • Perform Equipment Evaluations and Documentation
    Conduct engineering design assessments and document findings, recommending design alterations to enhance quality and reliability.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement Initiatives
    Utilize lean and continuous improvement tools to increase equipment availability and capability across the plant.
  • Enhance Cross-Functional Collaboration
    Work closely with engineering, operations, and supplier teams to ensure seamless integration of machining processes.
  • Support Implementation of Advanced Technologies
    Contribute to the adoption of innovative machining solutions that improve efficiency and reduce operational risk.

Additional Information:

  • Maintain flexibility in scheduling to support production needs, including weekend second-shift coverage. Weekend Night Shift 3 days per week, 12 hours per day (Sat-Mon, approx. 5 PM-5 AM) and occasional additional shifts as required.
  • Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills while driving continuous improvement in machining processes.
  • Interpret and apply 2D part drawings with an understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD\&T).
  • Apply foundational knowledge of part machining and fixturing to support production requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Quality, HSE, and Materials, to achieve plant goals and improvement initiatives.
  • Lead and participate in safety investigations and improvement projects to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Provide training and guidance to AMA's, interns/co-ops, or School-to-Work students to support skill development and team performance.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally across all levels of the organization, fostering strong interpersonal relationships.

    Capability to manage equipment procurement, implement machine programming solutions, and document manufacturing procedures for consistency and standardization.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
    Ability to design measurement processes using GD\&T principles, troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues, and optimize material removal tooling for cost-effective production.
  • Adaptability and Cultural Awareness
    Comfort with diverse perspectives, managing complexity, and driving continuous improvement in dynamic manufacturing environments.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Basic level of relevant work experience required.
