Position Summary

The Busser is a crucial member of the restaurant's service team, responsible for assisting the servers at all times, delivering food and drink orders to seated customers, and bussing and cleaning tables as guests finish eating. Working closely with the servers and kitchen staff, the Busser plays a key supporting role in ensuring a positive dining experience for customers.

This role pays an hourly rate of $12.00 and is tip eligible.

About the Venue

Leo Restaurant inside the Kimmel Center provides a refined experience for neighborhood diners and theatergoers as well. Led by Executive Chef Haley McKinney and inspired by her travels, our menu artfully blends the vibrant, fresh flavors of coastal cuisines from around the world. Seasonal, locally sourced ingredients take center stage in standout dishes like squid ink campanelle tossed in a rich lobster and aged ham ragu and delicate lamb merguez dumplings served with cardamom yogurt and bell pepper hot sauce.

Responsibilities

Food and Beverage Support:

  • Collect prepared food items from the kitchen and ensure their safe transportation to seating areas.
  • Verify that the food being delivered matches the order details, paying attention to special requests, allergies, or dietary restrictions.
  • Deliver food promptly to customers while it is still fresh and hot, ensuring that they receive their orders in a timely manner.
  • Assist picking up drink orders at the bar and delivering them to the guest.

Table Preparation and Resetting:

  • Set up tables with clean utensils and condiments before guests arrive.
  • Clear and reset tables promptly after customers have finished dining.
  • Ensure tables are properly arranged and presentable for the next guests.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the outdoor dining area, clearing empty plates, utensils, and other waste from tables when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen staff, servers, bartenders, and other restaurant personnel to ensure smooth and coordinated service.

Dining Area Maintenance:

  • Regularly check and clean dining tables, chairs, and surrounding areas to maintain cleanliness and a neat appearance.
  • Empty and clean garbage cans before, during, and after each shift.
  • Wipe down tables and clean debris around the dining area and sitting guests.
  • Assist with general cleaning tasks as needed, including restocking supplies and cleaning glassware and the bar.
  • Collect all recyclable garbage disposables and place them in assigned garbage bins.
  • Assist in maintaining an adequate supply of disposable plates, containers, and utensils.
Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a restaurant or food service setting is preferred, especially in a similar customer service role.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift and carry food trays or plates, and navigate outdoor spaces comfortably.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to interact with customers and effectively relay information to team members.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate order delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize responsibilities, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the kitchen and serving staff to provide seamless service.
  • A friendly and approachable demeanor with the ability to provide exceptional customer service.
