EDM Machine Operator
Plastic Injection Mold Tooling Industry
Pulaski, TN | Full-Time | On-Site
Position Summary
The EDM Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) equipment used in the production, repair, and maintenance of plastic injection molds and tooling components. This position requires strong attention to detail, blueprint reading skills, and the ability to maintain close tolerances and high-quality finishes.

This role is critical to producing high-quality injection molding tools and components with extreme accuracy and consistency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate EDM equipment including:
    • Sinker EDM
    • Wire EDM
    • Hole Popper EDM (if applicable)
  • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and tooling prints
  • Perform precision machining of mold components and tooling details
  • Select and install electrodes, wire, fixtures, and tooling
  • Verify dimensions using precision measuring equipment
  • Monitor machine performance and adjust offsets/settings as needed
  • Maintain surface finish and tolerance requirements
  • Inspect completed work for accuracy and quality standards
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and communicate with supervisors/engineering
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas
  • Follow all OSHA, ISO, and company safety procedures
  • Assist with additional tooling or machining duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • EDM machining experience preferred
  • Manufacturing or mold shop experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Understanding of tooling tolerances and precision measurements
  • Experience using:
    • Micrometers
    • Calipers
    • Indicators
    • Gauges
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Stable work history and strong attendance record
Preferred Experience
  • Plastic injection mold manufacturing
  • Tool amp; Die or Mold Maker background
  • CNC machining knowledge
  • Electrode setup and burn strategies
  • Tebis, CAD, or CAM software familiarity
  • Mold repair and maintenance experience
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to work safely around industrial equipment and overhead cranes
