Injection Molding Setup Technician

Location: Elkhart, IN
Shift: 2nd Shift – M-Th: 1:00pm-10:00pm, F: 1:00pm-5:00pm
Pay: Starting at $20.00 per hour, with higher wages available based on experience, technical skill level, and injection molding expertise.

Job Summary

Are you a mechanically inclined individual looking to grow your career in plastics manufacturing? We're seeking an Injection Molding Setup Technician to join our team in Elkhart, IN. In this role, you'll play a vital part in keeping production running efficiently by performing mold changeovers, troubleshooting equipment, and ensuring injection molding machines consistently produce high-quality parts. If you enjoy working with machinery, solving mechanical problems, and learning new technical skills, we encourage you to apply.

What You'll Be Doing

As an Injection Molding Setup Technician, your core responsibilities will include:

Machine Setup & Changeovers: Install molds and inserts, perform mold and tool changeovers according to production schedules, and prepare machines for efficient production runs.

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Monitor machine performance, respond to alarms, troubleshoot equipment and part defects, perform preventative maintenance, and maintain dryers, grinders, hoppers, filters, and other support equipment.

Material Preparation & Production Support: Prepare and mix raw materials, safely transport molds and materials using a forklift, maintain proper tooling and equipment organization, communicate with production and Quality teams, and support daily production goals while following all company safety and quality standards.

In addition, you will also be expected to identify equipment concerns, report maintenance needs, maintain a clean and organized work area, and assist with continuous improvement initiatives.

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you should have the following:

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in injection molding or plastics manufacturing preferred

Experience performing mold changes, machine setups, and equipment troubleshooting

  • Must be mechanically inclined with a strong interest in working on manufacturing equipment

  • Candidates with excellent mechanical aptitude are strongly encouraged to apply

  • Forklift operation is required for this position. Previous forklift experience is preferred, but employer-provided training and certification are available for qualified candidates.

  • Ability to follow production schedules and work instructions

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed

  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic

Skills:

Mechanical Aptitude: Strong understanding of mechanical systems with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and quickly learn new machinery.

Injection Molding Expertise: Knowledge of injection molding machines, mold setup, and production support is preferred.

Material Handling: Ability to safely operate a forklift and move molds, raw materials, and finished products throughout the facility. Forklift certification will be provided by the employer.

Attention to Detail: Strong focus on quality, process consistency, and maintaining accurate production standards.
