Job Summary

Experienced engineering position within West's Advanced Engineering Team, industrializing manufacturing processes for new product launches. Responsibilities include executing complex injection molding tool projects, increasing team knowledge of new plastic part manufacturing technology, and increasing team effectiveness at delivering high performing manufacturing processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage injection mold tooling projects built by outside vendors including designing, fabricating, receiving, and transferring to production.
  • Create CAD models and detailed drawings for assembly fixtures, and assembly manufacturing aids.
  • Mentor engineers in their understanding of injection molding tool technologies and project management.
  • Work as part of cross-functional and cross-company action teams to problem solve product quality and production issues resulting from mold and assembly process design.
  • Identify and evaluate new plastic part manufacturing technology and vendors to support current and future product and process development needs.
  • Develop and maintain required quality records associated with assigned projects including specifications, drawings, BOM, and validation.
  • Provide project management deliverables including timelines, budgets, resource planning, and status meeting updates.
  • Identify opportunities to improve tooling reliability.
  • Track mold Health and downtime trends using internal databases.
  • Performs other duties as assigned based on business needs.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
  • Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance.
Education
  • : Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent four-year technical degree or commensurate work experience
Work Experience
  • 5-8 years of experience in an engineering capacity
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of injection molding industry and respective processes
  • Experience in designing and fabricating complex molding tools
  • Proficient in GD&T tolerancing
  • Experience working in a regulated GMP or GLP environment
  • Preferred knowledge of lean manufacturing and design for manufacturability
  • Experience in driving projects lasting for several months with little supervision
Travel Requirements
10%: Up to 26 business days per year
Physical Requirements
Medium-Exerting up to 50lb/22kg of force occasionally and/or up to 20lbs/9kg of force frequently, and/or up to 10lbs/4kgs of force constantly to move objects.

  • Leadership skills and must be able to communicate effectively with written and oral skills, make quick decisions, interpret data, read and write, speak in front of groups, express and exchange ideas, understand direction and adhere to procedures.
