Job description

LOCATION: KONA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL | Chemotherapy
POSITION STATUS: 0.30 | Temporary
SALARY RANGE: BU79 |
SALARY RATE: $61.52 (Hourly) based on the FTE
JOB DUTIES:
This position is located in the Infusion/Chemotherapy Center, a division of the Cancer Center of Kona Community Hospital, a 94 bed acute care facility located on the island of Hawaii, serving as the West Hawaii Regional Center, which also includes Kohala Hospital. It is one of 9 facilities within the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation. The Cancer Center provides oncology services for the island/county of Hawaii, including consultation, chemotherapy and immunotherapy administration, infusion therapies, radiation therapy coordination, oncology follow-up, survivorship services, and supportive care.
The Infusion/Chemotherapy Center is responsible for the administration of IV outpatient infusion services and ambulatory nursing care on a referral basis. This includes but is not limited to chemotherapy, antibiotics, transfusions of blood products, I.M. and S.Q. injections.
The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for the organization, management and direction of the Infusion/Chemotherapy Center. This position may be required to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.
Other information:
EDUCATION: Graduated from an accredited school of nursing. While not required, graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable.
EXPERIENCE: One year of professional nursing work experience, where the employee independently provided nursing care to patients in a clinic, hospital, or institution.
CERTIFICATION: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon employment. For some positions Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required.
LICENSURE: Possession of a current license to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Hawaii.

The administrative review, formal complaint and/or appeals hearing will not necessarily postpone the recruitment process and/or rescind a selection. If you do not agree with the Administrative Review, you may file a Formal Compliant and then, if you are still not satisfied, you can appeal to the HHSC Merit Appeals Board.
